Summer Xtreme Racing Series

The Summer Xtreme Series was developed to promote competitive racing for both new drivers and seasoned veterans. This series is quite a departure from our previous race-day formats, focusing on one type of car for the entire race-day event and limiting the number of drivers who advance to the final Feature event. The series can also include oval and road course events and refueling stops. While some drivers will not make it to the final feature event, they will race nearly the same amount of laps as those who transfer to to the Feature.

Description

The Summer Xtreme Series was developed to promote competitive racing for both new drivers and seasoned veterans. This series is quite a departure from our previous race-day formats, focusing on one type of car for the entire race-day event.

Racing Format:

    1. Qualifying: 5 laps total, 2 warmup laps, 3 timed laps. The average time of your three timed laps determines your qualifying position.
    2. Transfer Heat 1: The even-numbered qualifiers (2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, and so on) race together. The winner transfers directly to the Feature event. All others qualify for the Last-Chance Qualifier race.
    3. Transfer Heat 2: The odd-numbered qualifiers (1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and so on) race together. The winner transfers directly to the Feature event. All others qualify for the Last-Chance Transfer race.
    4. Last Chance Transfer: All qualifiers who did not earn a direct transfer to the Feature event race together. The 1st and 2nd place finishers advance to the Feature event. The Race Director could modify the number of drivers who transfer to the Feature event from the Last Chance race.
    5. Consolation Dash: All qualifiers not advancing from any of the Transfer races to the Feature event race against each other for a chance to visit the podium. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers appear on the podium. No transfers to the Feature event.
    6. Feature Event: This event will involve all drivers who transferred from any of the eligible transfer races to the Feature. The Feature will always be an extended race in terms of total laps, and may also involve refueling. All drivers up to 10th place will earn series points.

The events for the Summer Xtreme Series could be run on both road courses and oval track layouts. On road courses, the Feature heat/segment durations shall be significantly longer than oval course segments. The Race Director can modify lap counts based on attendance or other factors.

Points will be awarded only for the final race results and not awarded for heat race finishes. The points are awarded as follows:
